Day 3 for Cava's Radiation Treatment
Cava is being treated as this is being written. He is a 9 1/2 yr. old cocker with a great, big heart. It was discovered in the latter part of June 2008 that he had a tumor in the anal gland and test proved to be malignant. Further testing with X-rays and Catscans indicated that the cancer had not spread to other areas of his body. This was great news because this meant that the oncologists could surgically remove the tumor and then radiation and chemotherapy could possibly extend his life. The doctor that removed the tumor said it was about the size of an M&M. So, most of the cancer was removed thru tha.t procedure. Radiation will remove more of the cancer cells and next will be chemo to catch & destroy any stray cancer cells.
Cava will undergo 19 radiation treatments and will be in the California Vetinary clinic for
4 weeks and 1 week for rest.
